PLEASE NOTE: Not all of the cities covered have been given the attention that they deserve. All of the photos I took in Vienna and Budapest have been lost, except one, and I haven't been able to include any photos of Wroclaw, Southampton or Tampere either. Although I have three photos of Gdansk (+ one of Marlbork), it too definitely deserves more.

Second, my judgements of the cities I visited are honest but obviously subjective. This is NOT a Lonely Planet Guide to Europe. My praises and criticisms are as reflective of my personal preferences and experiences as of the destinations themselves. After all, as Oscar Wilde once noted:
